Chanderkhani Pass  is a pass located in the Kullu District of India at a height of 3,660 metres. It forms a way (pass) between the villages of Rumsu and Pulag to the well known village of Malana, which indirectly forms a trekking route from Naggar to Malana across the Chanderkhani Pass. Mountain peaks of Indrasan, Deo Tibba, Pir Panjal Range & Parbati Range are considered holy and can be seen very clearly from the pass. Participants can spend time outside experiencing nature and walking the trails, while learning how to identify the common Himalayan flora and fauna.

Itineraries

Day 1

Date : May 7, 2022

Time : 4:00 pm

Pune – Delhi – Manali

Departure to Delhi from Pune. Reach Delhi by afternoon. Board the bus for Manali at 4 pm. Overnight Journey to Patlikuhal, 20 kms before Manali.
Bus type : Volvo AC semi-sleeper
Alternately participants can also travel 1 day prior by train to Delhi and board the bus from there to Manali.

Day 2

Date : May 1, 2022

Reporting at Rumsu [Manali] Basecamp (6,500 ft)

Overnight Journey from Delhi. Reach Pathlikula early morning & head towards Rumsu which is the base camp.
This will be a rest day. Breakfast will be served in the dining hall, followed by the registration, documentation and tent allocation. An orientation will be given to the participants. Post Lunch a short acclimatization walk to the Pulag Village, followed by an Ice Breaking session. Dinner and night stay at the base.

Day 3

Time : 8:00 am

Trek to Ghankulhadi (8,600 ft | 4 km | 4 hrs)

Wake up call and freshen up. After breakfast commence the trek for Ghankulhadi. The trek route goes through some dense forest, full of pine, fir, oak, chestnut trees. There is an ascent for the jungle and takes around 4 hours to reach Ghankulhadi. Overnight stay in tents at Ghankulhadi camp.

Day 4

Date : May 3, 2022

Time : 8:00 am

Ghankulhadi to Naya Tapru (9,400 ft | 3 km | 3 hrs)

After breakfast commence the trek for Naya Tapru. The trek to Naya Tapru from Ghankulhadi goes through some deep forest, and involves a moderate climb but is short. Naya Tapru presents amazing views of the Manali valley with the famous peaks of Dhauladhar range as its backdrop.

Overnight stay in tents at Naya Tapru camp.

Day 5

Date : May 4, 2022

Time : 6:00 am

Naya Tapru to Chandrakhani Pass and descent to Naya Tapru(12,000 ft | 8 km | 8 hrs)

After breakfast all the trekkers will start their trek to Chandrakhani Pass with their packed lunch. Trek commences by 6 AM and has a moderate ascent. It takes around 4 hours to reach the Chandrakhani Pass. The highest point of the pass is 3,660 meters. (12100 Ft). Just adjacent to the Chandrakhani Pass lies Dhana Kunnu Pass. The entire place is associated with the famous Jamdagini Rishi, one of the seven saptarishi.
We will then start descending from Chandrakhani for Naya Tapru camp. The descent is easy and takes around 3 hours and involves lot of Snow slides
Overnight stay in tents at Naya Tapru camp site.

Day 6

Time : 8:00 am

Descent to Rumsu (6,500 ft | 7 km | 4 hrs)

After breakfast all the participants will start descent for Rumsu base camp. The descent route is the same as the ascent and takes around 4 hours. Freshen up and Hot lunch at Rumsu base camp on arrival. Check out from camp and head to a homestay, Night at leisure for fun celebration.

Day 7

Atal Tunnel & Sissu visit

After breakfast visit Naggar Castle and head to Sissu via Atal tunnel, one of the most iconic structures constructed by the Border roads organization. Sissu Village in Lahul valley. Later drive to Manali, on the way visit Solang valley, visit Hadimba temple and time to explore local market in Manali. Members can board their bus to Delhi from Manali Volvo stand at 5 pm. Overnight journey to Delhi. Depart with beautiful memories.

Day 8

Reach Delhi, departure to Pune

Reach Delhi in the morning and departure to Pune. Book flights after 2 pm, to avoid issues due to traffic jams on return journey from Manali.

1. Trekking shoes: Carry water proof trekking shoes with good grip and ankle support. Do not carry sports shoes.
2. Three layers of warm clothes: Carry two or three-layer jackets, fleece jackets and a padded jacket.
3. Two/Three trek pants: Carry light cotton trek pants. Denim/jeans and shorts are not suitable for trekking.
4. Three t-shirts (collared/dri-fit): Full sleeved t-shirts that prevent sun burns on the neck and arms. Carry one or two dri-fit t-shirts.
5. Thermals: Carry thermals (top and bottom).
6. Sunglasses: Sunglasses are mandatory. There will be lot of snow on the trek and can cause snow blindness.
7. Cap: At high altitude, the sun is extra harsh so carry a cap to protect yourself.
8. Water proof hand gloves: Carry water proof gloves and avoid woollen gloves as they will get wet if you touch snow.
9. Socks (3-4 pairs) and a pair of woollen socks: Apart from two sports socks, you can take a pair of woollen socks for the night.
10. Headlamp/LED torch: Mandatory
11. Raincoat/Ponchos: At high altitudes, snowfall and rain are quite common and it’s mandatory to carry a poncho so that you don’t get wet. The trek will continue as planned even during rainfall.
12. Lunch box and water bottle: Every participant should have their personal lunch box and a water bottle[insulated type recommended].
