Hampta Pass trek is the beginners delight in every way, easy access, dense pine forest, beautiful meadows, adrenaline pumping river crossings and a high altitude mountain pass called Hampta pass. Numbers of wild flowers and herbs grow at the altitude between 3000 to 3800 m. Vertical rock walls, waterfalls, hanging glaciers, tiny lakes, and peaks rising above 6000 m are main characteristics of this trek Hampta Pass is a moderate trek with a scope of mixing lot of other adventure activities to suit varying duration and interest of trekkers. Chandratal is also known as “Moon Lake” is the source of the Chandra River. It was once a tentative place for traders from Tibet and Ladakh who went to Spiti and the Kullu valley, but today it attracts a large number of adventure enthusiasts from across the world. You will trek through the beautiful snow-covered mountain peaks and slopes.
Date- 8th June – 16th June 2019 (Ex Delhi)
Duration – 09 Days /08 Nights
Day- 01 – Departure from Pune to New Delhi. Leave Delhi by 4 pm for Manali.
Day 2: Reporting at Rumsu base camp and Acclimatisation walk.
Get down at Patlikuhal (20 kms after Kullu and 20 kms before Manali). Transport options are readily available from Patlikuhal to Rumsu camp. All the participants should report at Rumsu base camp by 8 AM and will undergo the registration process. Freshening up and breakfast will happen at the base camp. Post breakfast we will go for an acclimatization walk. Lunch at 1 pm. Post lunch orientation. Orientation will cover all the general instructions that could be helpful for the trek like backpacking, marching technique and medical awareness. Post snacks we will have an ice-breaking session. Overnight stay at Rumsu base camp.
Day 3: Rumsu to Chikka
After morning breakfast we will start the day’s trek with a beautiful drive to Hampta dam from Rumsu at 8 am. The trek to Chikka starts from Hampta Dam and is easy. It takes around 2-3 hours to complete it. There is a small forest patch and then two wooden bridges before you reach the campsite. Chikka has big rock boulders and a beautiful waterfall. Overnight in tents at Chikka.
Day 4: Chikka to Balu ka Ghera
After morning breakfast we will start the trek for Balu Ka Ghera. Trek duration is around 4 to 5 hours from Chikka to Balu ka Ghera scaling 11900 feet. The initial part of the trek goes through the bank of the river crossing few rock boulders. There is a water stream that needs to be crossed on the way. Balu ka Ghera is a large plain ground on the bank of the river and camping at this spot is a dream in reality. One can spot Indrasan, the highest peak of Manali valley from here. Snacks would be served in the evening followed by dinner. Overnight camping at Balu Ka Ghera.
Day 5: Balu ka Ghera to Shia Ghoru
Today’s trek starts early as we will try covering the maximum snow patch before sunrise. The trek route from Balu Gehra towards Shia Ghoru is a moderate climb, scaling 4,200 meters. The trek duration is relatively long and starts by 5 am in the morning from Balu ka Gera. It takes around 4 to 5 hours to reach the top of the Hamta Pass. The aerial views of Spiti valley from Hampta Pass are quite breathtaking. We will then descend from Hampta top towards Shia Ghoru. The descend is steep and at times when snow is abundant one can slide down to reach Shia Ghoru.
Day 6: Shia Ghoru to Chandrataal to Chatru.
After morning breakfast we will start the trek to Chatru. The beautiful view of the valleys of Lahaul and Spiti are not to be missed during the trek. The mountains of Pir Panjal and Spiti ranges adds to the beauty. Chatru is a meeting point of roads coming from Rohtang Pass, Hampta Pass and Spiti. Jeep safari to Chandrataal from Chatru . Myths say that Yudhishthir, the eldest Pandava was called to heaven from Chandra Taal. Overnight camping at Chatru.
Day 7: Jeep Ride from Chatru to Rumsu base camp.
After morning breakfast we will start the jeep ride to Manali via Rohtang Pass. Certificate distribution and Leave for Manali. Overnight stay in Manali. Celebration night at Manali.
Day 8: Departure to Delhi
After breakfast spend some time in Manali. Departure for New Delhi after 4 pm. Overnight journey to Delhi.
Day 9: Arrival at New Delhi by 10 am. Departure to Pune.

• The request for cancellation and refund if any should be made in the Cancellation Form, duly signed by the traveller/guardian or by e-mail sent from the travellers personal ID.
• Cancellation request will be received during working days and during working hours. It will be processed form the time of receipt of the form or email.
• Refund will be paid by cheque only (not cash) or account transfers within 15 days of event conclusion.
• Backpack outdoors reserves all rights to modify/change any program/event.
For any reason of cancellation, cancellation charges will be applicable as follows
• For cancellation made more than 30 days prior to departure, 80% of the program fees will be refunded.
• For cancellation made between 30 to 16 days prior to departure date, 50% of program fees will be refunded.
• No refund will be given if cancellation is made within 15 days prior to the departure date of the event.
If the event is cancelled due to any natural calamity, political unrest or other such reasons beyond our control the same cancellation policy will apply.
• If the event is cancelled by Backpack Outdoors due to an insufficient number of people then the full amount will be refunded or adjusted in the next event.
