Itineraries
Day 1
Departure
Leave from Pune. Reporting to Delhi. Leave for Shimla by 7 pm. Overnight journey.
Day 2
Shimla – Narkhanda
Reach Shimla by 8 am. Have breakfast and transfer to Narkhanda. Approx 2-3 hrs journey. on the way visit Hathu Peak. The place lesser known, more serene, and almost as good as a paradise. Enveloped in towering mountains, dotted with sweeping landscapes, and decorated with fir, maple, and cedar, it amazes nature lovers with stunning nature views. Standing tall at 12000 ft, it is the highest peak in the Shimla/Narkanda region Overnight at hotel.
Day 3
Narkhanda – Chitkul
Have breakfast and leave for Chitkul. Chitkul is the last inhabited village near the Indo-Tibet border. The Indian road ends here. on the way you pass through Sangla & Kinnuar Valley. Kinnaur,is the tribal district of Himachal Pradesh. Its a land of fairy tales and fantasies, has a spectacular terrain of lush green valley, orchards, vineyards, snow clad peaks and cold desert mountains. It is a border district of Himachal Pradesh. Sangla Valley It is supposed to be one of the most beautiful valleys in the country. The valley is surrounded by forested slopes, and is rich in apple orchards, apricot, Wall-nut, Cedar trees, and glacial streams with trout fish. Apple farming is one of the main livelihood of the people here; and this region boasts of growing the world’s best quality apples.
Day 4
Chitkul to Nako via Kalpa
Have breakfast and leave for Nako. on the way visit Kalpa. Kalpa is situated on the old Hindustan Tibet Road. A small but very nice Buddist temple is there in a corner of the village, near the Post Office, where you can spend some quiet moments. Just behind the temple, a school compound provides a really good view to capture some of the best pictures of surrounding Kinnur kailash & Himalayan Peaks. The Suicide Point is located around 3 kms away from Kalpa village and the journey to this point takes place through beautiful apple gardens. This place is so lovely that tourists even forget the dangerous trench and vertical slope they pass through on their way to suicide point. This place is famous for its thrilling trench and enchanting atmosphere that gives a wonderful experience to the visitors. Further visit Khab and Nako village. Khab is the confluence of Spiti and Satluj Rivers. The major attraction of Nako Village is the Nako Lake which is located amidst extremely hilly terrains. Close to this lake one can get to see Buddhist monasteries and a huge foot like impression. Overnight stay at Nako.
Day 5
Nako to Mud in Pin Valley (Mud Village) via Gue
After breakfast leave for Mud Village. On the way visit Gue. Gue is the tiny hamlet in the Spiti Valley a place which still remains away from a traveler's circuit. The village of Gue is located at an altitude of about 10,499 ft above sea level and lies at a close proximity to the Indo-China border. The place is home to India's only known naturally preserved mummy. As per carbon dating, the mummy is believed to be 500 to 600 years old. Further drive to Mud. Mud is an excellent place you should visit if you are in Spiti. The views in the entire Pin Valley including Mud village were just majestic, and they valley is mostly virgin, serene, barren and beautiful. Pin valley is the base for Pin Valley National Park which is the natural habitat of the Snow Leopard and Himalayan Ibex. Overnight stay at Mud.
Day 6
Mud to Kaza via Dhankar & Tabo Monastery
Have breakfast and leave for on our way to Kaza, we visit 200-year-old Dhankar monastery, the monastery sits between many jagged peaks and has an amazing view of the Spiti River. Also on the way we pass many tiny villages, rocky mountains, vertical rocks and cliffs. Tabo monastery & Tabo Caves are the main attractions of the town. Tabo has the oldest Buddhist monastery in India which is still operational. The paintings of the monastery can be traced back to the period between the 10th and the 11th century. Tabo Caves,' these magnificent caverns are artificially excavated for monks and were initially used as an assembly hall. Kaza which is the capital of Spiti. This is the biggest town in the region with an old market, and new hotels. The market has shops selling Tibetan souvenirs and eateries. Overnight stay at Kaza.
Day 7
Kaza to Ki Monastery, Kibber, Hikkim, Langza and Komic villages - Losar
Have breakfast and visit Ki Monastery, the largest one in Himachal, looks like a cluster of many white homes sitting atop a conical hill. Kibber, Langcha and Komic villages, where we go next, seem like a sprinkling of whitewashed houses on a green and brown landscape – the meadows encircled by snow-capped peaks. Hikkim has the world's highest permanent post office on the altitude of 14567 ft. Langcha is one of highest villages in Asia, located at the height of 13,943 feet and it has a huge Buddha statue and a temple. Overnight stay at Losar
Day 8
Your Plan
Have breakfast and head towards Chandratal Lake via Kunzum La. Kunzum La, which is also the highest (15059 ft) point of the trip. Enjoy this magical drive over Kunzum Pass to enter the middle land called Spiti Valley via Manali. The mystical and beautiful Chandratal Lake, which translates to Moon Lake, is located at a height of 14,100 feet. The Chandra Bhaga mountain range forms a striking backdrop for the lake, which changes appearance according to the pictures painted in the sky. After capturing the colors of the beautiful Chandratal Lake, drive to our camping site. Overnight stay at chandratal.
Day 9
- Chandrataal – Manali via Rohtang La
After breakfast leave for Manali. With visuals of the stunning Chandratal Lake captured in minds and cameras, we continue tracing our steps back, driving on the Kaza – Manali road and after a few hours of driving and some more stunning landscape, we pass through the famous Rohtang Pass. Reach Manali. Overnight stay at Manali.
Day 10
Manali- Delhi
Spend some time in Manali. Visit Hadimba Temple, old Manali, Mall Road, Van Vihar etc. Departure to Delhi at 4 pm. Overnight journey.
Day 11
Delhi - Pune
Reach Delhi by 10 am. Leave for Pune.
